Newport City Council has successfully bid for £1m of development funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The cash will be used to develop a bid for a full grant at a later stage, which would be used to carry out essential repairs and create a bigger and better visitor centre with much improved facilities for visitors to the bridge.
